CMOS Image Sensors

Two high definition (HD) CMOS image sensor families provide a range of options for your video and still photo applications:

  • The AltaChrome family of HD CMOS imaging sensors delivers patented AltaChrome 4T Pinned Photodiodes, patent-pending BitsDReamTM technology, 14-bit still images, and native progressive readout. AltaChrome model numbers begin with an A.

A new generation of AltaChrome technology has been introduced to provide improved low-light response, higher sensitivity, and stronger over-light response. Products featuring the new, enhanced technology contain an E in their names.

  • The ProCamHD family of high performance CMOS-based image sensors is based on AltaSens’ patented 3T Tapered Reset technology and an integrated System-on-Chip solution to support high data rates and deliver superior video performance. ProCamHD model numbers begin with P.

The following table lists AltaChrome and ProCamHD model numbers by application and pixel array size. Click any of the underlined links for detailed information.

Sensor Evaluation Kits

AltaSens sensor Evaluation Kits (EVKs) are bench-top tools designed for evaluating AltaChrome high-definition CMOS sensors. The EVKs are ideal for characterizing the effects of register settings on signaling, timing, and sensor performance for both monochrome and color sensors. EVKs are available for the following sensors:

BitsDReam™ Technology

In addition to our two families of image sensors, AltaSens offers BitsDReam technology to enable the generation of high-definition, high dynamic range (HD2RTM) images. BitsDReam boosts exposure latitude by a minimum of several f-stops while maintaining maximum frame rate of at least 30 fps.
