Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer at AltaSens Inc. you will contribute to the creation of various challenging software tools. The application of such tools is critical in the development of the highest quality CMOS imaging Sensors-on-Chip (iSoC) in the industry. Such tools include high-performance data acquisition applications with fast, real-time performance analysis, sensor simulation code to provide behavioral models of various iSoC components, image pipeline processing chains plus comprehensive image enhancement software etc.

You will play a key role in all of these efforts, making key decisions regarding code architecture and implementation. You will be responsible for generating clear, comprehensive user documentation to accompany the software you produce. You will also fully document your code.

Essential:

  • Fluent in C# or C++ and competent in C with prior experience writing large programs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly disciplined in producing clear, good quality documentation.
  • Strong communicator with good oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to contribute to several projects concurrently.
  • Must be self-motivated and respond positively to difficult challenges.
  • Must have a desire to build a career in digital imaging.

Desirable:

  • Some knowledge of the imaging industry.
  • Experience with an HDL or with DSP or FPGA programming.
  • Experience with embedded, real time systems.
  • Hardware driver development experience.
  • Familiarity with digital cameras.
  • Digital or analog ASIC design.

Education:

  • BS (or foreign equivalent) in Computing Science or a related discipline.

Senior Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

The successful candidate will be involved in the design of high-quality CMOS image sensor products.

The candidate must be able to solve complex design issues through simulation and implement solutions, including custom circuit layouts, verification, and testing. The candidate will work with members of the digital and algorithm teams to define interface specifications.

The candidate will also plan, organize, execute, and thoroughly document his/her work, with limited supervision.

Essential:

  • Minimum three years of experience in analog CMOS circuit design.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analog CMOS circuit design.
  • Experience with Verilog/VHDL.
  • Ability to invent novel circuit solutions to meet demanding chip performance.
  • High level of discipline to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Self-motivation, with a passion for imaging technologies.
  • Strong verbal communication skill.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of CMOS image sensor design.
  • Experience with CAD design tools, such as Cadence DFII and Mentor Graphics Calibre.

Analog Layout Design Engineer 

The successful candidate will be involved in the design of high-quality CMOS image sensor products.

The candidate must be able to produce high-quality layouts, starting from schematics.

The candidate will also plan, organize, execute, and thoroughly document his/her work, with limited supervision.

Essential:

  • Minimum three years of experience in analog CMOS layout.
  • Experience with CAD design tools, such as Cadence DFII and Mentor Graphics Calibre.
  • High level of discipline to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Self-motivation, with a passion for imaging technologies.
  • Strong verbal communication skill.

Desirable:

  • Basic CMOS design experience.
  • Hardware design experience.

Pixel Design Engineer 

The successful candidate will be involved in the design of pixels for visible image sensors. Responsibilities include the planning of detailed process, pixel, and device designs and optimizations, working closely with the foundry to design experiments based on modeling and existing experimental results.

The candidate must be familiar with CMOS pixel design for visible image sensors and will work closely with design engineers, the technology development department, and the silicon foundry in order to produce the highest quality pixel cells.

The candidate will also plan, organize, execute, and thoroughly document his/her work, with limited supervision.

Essential:

  • Minimum three years of experience in CMOS pixel design or equivalent academic experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CMOS device physics.
  • High level of discipline to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Self-motivation, with a passion for imaging technologies.
  • Strong verbal communication skill.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in analog CMOS circuit design.
  • Experience with CMOS-device physics simulation tools.
  • Experience with back-end optical simulations, ray tracing, uLens shaping.

Senior Digital Design Engineer

The successful candidate will be involved in the design of high-quality CMOS image sensor products.

The candidate must be able to understand image sensor design issues, video data pipelines, image-processing algorithms and sensor control blocks, and be able to solve problems through RTL coding and simulation. The candidate will work with members of the analog and algorithm teams to define design specifications.

The candidate will also plan, organize, execute, and thoroughly document his/her work, with limited supervision.

Essential:

  • Previous experience with CMOS imaging devices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Verilog.

ASIC Physical Design Engineer or Contractor

The successful candidate will be involved in the design of high-quality CMOS image sensor products.

The candidate must have hands-on experience in taping out image sensor SoCs and strong timing closure skills, including signal integrity, RC extraction, clock-tree synthesis, and library understanding. Strong communication skills and an ability to work in small groups are essential to being successful. Skill and efficiency in scripting are desirable.

The candidate will also plan, organize, execute, and thoroughly document his/her work, with limited supervision.

Essential:

  • Minimum five years of experience in ASIC back-end design, block-level P&R, and chip-level floor planning.
  • Familiarity with Magma P&R flow.
  • Strong verbal communication skill.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Verilog/VHDL.
  • Experience with CAD design tools, such as Cadence DFII and Mentor Graphics Calibre.

Education:

  • BS (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, a physical science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
